How Much Does Binance Charge Per Trade? A Comprehensive Overview

Binance, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges by market capitalization, offers a wide array of trading pairs for its users to engage in. However, when it comes to executing trades on Binance, traders often wonder about the fees associated with each transaction. This article delves into the various costs involved in making a trade on Binance, including exchange fees, maker/taker fees, and withdrawal fees, providing a comprehensive understanding of how much users can expect to pay per trade.

Exchange Fees

Binance charges an exchange fee for most trades executed through its platform. This fee is typically 0.1% of the transaction volume or value but can vary depending on certain factors. The exchange fee applies regardless of whether a trade is made (i.e., a maker order) or taken (i.e., a taker order). However, there are exceptions to this rule, such as when trading on the Advanced Market or during specific events organized by Binance, where no additional fees may apply.

Trade Types

Binance classifies trades into two main types: maker and taker orders. A maker trade is one that creates a new order in the order book and increases its depth. Maker trades are rewarded with slightly reduced trading fees, whereas taker trades are executed by taking an existing order from the order book without creating additional liquidity. Taker trades generally incur higher fees due to the fact they reduce the order book's depth.

Slippage Protection Fees

Binance offers a feature known as "slippage protection" for certain high-volume tokens where Binance provides the slippage protection on top of the maker fee, reducing the total transaction cost by 1% or more when trading large amounts or illiquid assets. This applies to tokens with specific tickers and can significantly reduce the overall fees a trader might pay.

Fees for Specific Trading Pairs

Binance also charges different fees based on the pair traded. Lower trade volumes result in higher fees, while higher trade volumes lead to lower fees. The fee rate will be adjusted automatically at the beginning of each hour and is calculated as 0.1% of the total volume or value of trades executed during that hour.

Maker/Taker Fees

As mentioned earlier, Binance distinguishes between maker and taker orders, applying different fees to these two types of trades. While makers are rewarded with a discount on their trading fees, the exact amount depends on whether the trade is completed within 5 minutes after being placed. Trades that fail to be filled within this time frame will revert to the standard exchange fee rate for maker trades.

Taker orders, or those that immediately take an existing order from the order book without contributing new liquidity, are subject to a higher trading fee than maker orders. For spot and Margin trading, taker fees range from 0.1% up to 0.3% of the total value of trades for each completed trade, depending on the trading volume during that hour.

Withdrawal Fees

Binance also charges a small fee when users withdraw cryptocurrencies from their accounts. The withdrawal fee is typically 0.005 BTC or equivalent amount in any other cryptocurrency being withdrawn and applies to both spot and margin assets. However, there are certain exceptions to this rule, including the following:

1. Withdrawing ETH (Ethereum): Users can withdraw a maximum of 2 ETH per month without paying a withdrawal fee. Withdrawals exceeding this limit will be subject to a 0.005 BTC withdrawal fee.

2. Minimum Withdrawal Amounts: For assets with a minimum withdrawal amount greater than or equal to 0.1 BNB, there is no withdrawal fee for withdrawing at least the specified amount within one calendar month after the first successful deposit in that month. The maximum number of requests allowed per calendar day also applies.

3. Withdrawals from Smart Chain: For assets on the Ethereum or Binance Smart Chain networks (BSC), there is no withdrawal fee when withdrawing at least 10 times the minimum amount specified for that asset within one calendar month after depositing it in your account.

4. Merkle Treasury Distribution: Withdrawals from Merkle distribution are subject to a withdrawal fee of 0.005 BTC or equivalent, and users are only allowed to withdraw once per calendar month.

Conclusion

Understanding how much Binance charges per trade is crucial for traders aiming to optimize their trading experience and minimize costs. By knowing the exchange fees, maker/taker fees, and withdrawal fees, traders can make informed decisions regarding when and which assets to trade on Binance. With its dynamic fee structure that rewards liquidity providers and takes into account trade volumes, Binance maintains a competitive edge in the cryptocurrency market while ensuring users are aware of the costs involved in each transaction.
